My mother has always taught me from a very young age, that it is important to give back to your community and to help others. Volunteering connects me to others and has brought joy and fulfillment to my life, it’s good for my mind and soul. It has allowed me me to connect with my community and make it a better place while meeting new friends and helping me boost my social skills. Volunteering in my community has given me the opportunity to practice important skills such as teamwork, communication, probleming solving, task management and organization. It has given me the opportunity to show compassion to others, be open minded and have willingness to do whatever is needed with a positive attitude. Volunteering for me is about helping others and having a positive impact on their well being. There is something very liberating, empowering and satisfying about making a difference in your community. Giving back to your community is valuable, it helps you learn more about yourself, your strengths and weaknesses. Volunteering helps you appreciate all you should be thankful for. Doing small things can have a big impact on others and provides me with a sense of purpose and accomplishment.
