Canada’s new Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) takes effect on July 1st, 2014. When the new law is in force, it will prohibit the sending of any type of electronic message that is commercial in nature unless the recipient has provided consent first.
As a result, the York Catholic District School Board requires the permission of its parents / guardians in order to receive any electronic messages which contain a commercial element such as promotions regarding school fundraisers or events, pizza days, field trips, etc.
This Fall, the Board will introduce a page on its website where all parents can consent to receive emails from their child’s school for this purpose. Please visit the board website once again in October. Your consent is required one time only.
All parents will continue to receive school-related, non-commercial emails.
